General Information

Interested in helping to collect information that will aid the effort to conserve grassland birds in Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest?  In order to minimize project costs and maximize efficiency and promote public-involvement in grassland bird conservation, we are relying heavily on dedicated volunteers to conduct many of our bird surveys throughout Wisconsin.  We ask that all volunteers attend at least one training session in their area and be willing to devote at least 2 mornings to conducting surveys.  At training sessions, volunteers meet with project organizers, learn about our sampling protocol, and conduct practice bird surveys with experts.  Information about upcoming training sessions can be found under the ‘Upcoming Events’ tab.  For more information about volunteering, please contact Michael Guttery at 608-263-7595 or guttery@wisc.edu.
