Education and Background
B.A. Biology Education, Hope College, Holland, MI 2006
Research Interests
I am interested in the flux of organisms and material from one ecosystem to another, and what consequences this has on both top-down and bottom-up processes. I am lucky enough to work as part of a wide-ranging collaborative group at Lake Mývatn, Iceland. After the midges go to land to mate many of them become prey for terrestrial predators (such as spiders, beetles, etc…), and after a time, many of them simply die leaving their carcasses to microbes and detritivores.
Personal Interests
Swimming, waterskiing, naval and military history, Iceland.
