RESEARCH

My interests span a wide range of ornithology and conservation including, though certainly not limited to, animal behavior, communication, and species interactions. No species exists in a vacuum and understanding the interdependence between species is vital to conservation efforts and maintaining healthy ecosystems.

My MSc project will focus on using next-generation sequencing to understand the diet of the Marbled Murrelet (Brachyramphus marmoratus). Without understanding their prey base, it is difficult to predict how environmental changes will affect this threatened seabird or plan conservation strategies.
