Welcome to the Williamson Laboratory Website!
We are an applied research group in the Department of Entomology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The majority of our research focuses on insect pests of turfgrass and ornamental plants in the great lakes region. We currently have active research projects focusing on Japanese beetle (both adults and white grubs), gypsy moth, emerald ash borer, black cutworm, and other pests.
We also provide Extension entomology support for turfgrass, ornamentals, Christmas trees, greenhouses, grapes, and cranberries in Wisconsin. We regularly develop and distribute new Extension materials to provide constituents with the most relevant information. Part of our Extension activities include educating the public about exotic and invasive insects. We play an active role by maintaining gypsy moth, emerald ash borer, and spotted wing drosophila websites. We are regularly updating and creating new Extension factsheets for homeowners and industry professionals.
